  • MCLEAN, Va. – Hilton Hotels & Resorts, the flagship brand of Hilton Worldwide, today announces its partnership with Warner unnamedBros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures for the highly anticipated epic action adventure Godzilla, set to release in theaters May 16.  Directed by Gareth Edwards, the film features scenes depicting the destruction of the celebrated Rainbow Tower located at Hilton Hawaiian Village® Waikiki Beach Resort.

Since its opening in 1968, the Rainbow Tower has become a favorite for guests because of its proximity to the Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon and Waikiki’s widest stretch of beach. The Rainbow Tower, boasting the newly-restored Rainbow Mural and providing guests with spectacular views, is digitally demolished in a scene in the modern-day Godzilla.

“Hilton has long set the stage for memorable moments in entertainment, and we are thrilled to be a part of this movie and pay homage to the original Godzilla film, with a modern twist,” said Rob Palleschi, global head, Hilton Hotels & Resorts. “We are excited that Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort will be featured in this rousing reimagining, and the destruction of the Rainbow Tower for the film is a testament to the power of this Hilton icon as an important character in Honolulu’s history.”

As a partner of the entertainment industry for more than six decades, Hilton Hotels & Resorts is launching a number of Godzilla-themed consumer promotions, including a chance to win a five-night stay at Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort, round-trip airfare to Hawaii and ground transportation for two and $500 spending money.
