New Delhi: Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju today said Hindu population is decreasing in the country as they do not believe in converting people from other religions.
Responding to Congress’ allegations that BJP is converting Arunchal Pradesh as Hindu state, Mr Rijiju said, minorities in India are flourishing unlike some countries around.
In a series of tweets, the Minister said, India is a secular country and Congress should not make such provocative and irresponsible statements. He said, all religious groups enjoy freedom and are living peacefully.
Congress criticized Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju over his remarks on Hindu population and conversion.
Briefing media in New Delhi, party spokesperson Manish Tewari said, the Election Commission should take cognisance of the statement. He said, Mr Rijiju should brush up his facts before making irresponsible comments.
