    Hingmenkam : a coldest heaven in Dima Hasao

    Haflong : Hingmenkam, a place situated on the top of village Kipeilua some 45 Km from Mahur has become a coldest heaven due to its shivering cold weather.

    Here at Hingmenkam near KIPEILUA village, a particular portion measuring one hecter depressed grassland area surrounded by virgin forest  witness such phenomenon not for first time but since its establishment of the village in 1934. The freezing of water and a light layer of snow like substances was  witnessed by the villagers even in the village itself.

    The  temperature comes down to zero from 3.30 am to 5 am daily during the month of November to February. The Water of streams also freezes but it gets melted after 7.30 am.

    Kipeilua village is famous not only for the cold but for many other reasons like hiding places of Ranima, natural bridge and bee hives etc.

    The village GB Sri Gekaklung Nriame says this is the one of the oldest Jeme village of Dima Hasao having 117 houses with 875 souls. The prime means of livelyhood is jhum cultivation and produce ginger, potato and honey. Due to lack of communication, they had to suffer a lot but now as the road from Mahur –Hejaichak- Hangrum is being constructed after several decades has brough sigh of releif among the mass.
