He also got an overview of the progress of different developmental programmes during the high level meeting attended by Governor N N Vohra, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and other top level security forces and state administration officials.

After the meeting, the Home Minister said that peace and stability in the state can only be attained through honest, effective and proficient administration. Expressing himself on social media, the HM said.

“The dream of a developed and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir will be realised when there is peace and normalcy in the state”

“It is our firm resolves to bring peace, stability and prosperity through an honest, effective and efficient administration for the problems facing the state”

On the way forward for the state, the Home Minister said that development and good governance have remained dreams for the people of J&K. The Centre is committed to bringing accountability and transparency in the system.

“The solution to problems lies in empowerment of the people and strengthening the institutions of local self governance”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in a recent interview that good governance, development and accountability are the path to restoring peace in the state.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh reached Srinagar on Wednesday evening and first met the Governor to get an overview of the security situation and Amarnath Yatra arrangements.

The two also spoke about situations arising in the state after imposition of Governor’s rule efforts in promoting constructive participation of youth in nation building activities and progress of developmental projects.

The Home Minister was scheduled to pay obedience at the Amarnath Shrine on Thursday during his tour but bad weather intervened.

It was on the 19th of June that the BJP withdrew support from the Mehbooba Mufti led coalition govt leading to imposition of Governor’s rule.

BJP cited rising terrorism and separatism in the state and larger national interest as its reasons for withdrawing support.

The Home Minister’s latest J&K visit is expected to boost efforts to tackle terrorism and hasten development in the state.
