    Home fitness has been in our lives since our childhood but it has taken on a new role during this COVID-19 pandemic. As a kid, I remember waking up in the morning during weekends to watch ‘Mousercise’, a Disney show program where Mickey and Minnie mouse teach kids aerobics and calisthenics. But now, it’s about attending yoga classes on Zoom call or joining live sessions of different fitness experts, we all have found our ways to exercise efficiently with the four walls. Nowadays, staying fit is not just a beauty regimen but now we need it for our mental health as well.

    The Covid-19 pandemic has brought mental health to the forefront due to a lot of uncertainties all around. People have started practicing yoga in their daily life to maintain their physical and mental wellbeing. Most people think of yoga as a meditative tool that helps them bring mindfulness and peace to their life. Yoga is a powerful element for enhancing one’s mental and physical health and is an ideal aid for a happy and healthy life during this pandemic.

    And with this pandemic going on, nobody is sure for how long this pandemic is going to last and when are we going to live our normal life as before. But as the nation is unlocking again, the gym will also begin to reopen in the second unlock phase, and many people are waiting for the gyms to get open, but is it safe to go out during these unprecedented times? Here are the few benefits you should consider if you’re planning to stay at home.

    Save gym expenses

    Home fitness or yoga is the best way to get fit without joining a health club. It hardly takes much effort or money to build a home gym. All you need is fit balls, dumbbells, Jumping rope, exercise bands or tubing, and push-up bars as home gym equipment, this is an inexpensive way to create a routine that works for all the major muscle groups.

    Time Flexibility

    In today’s world, the reality is people don’t have time to go and make use of facilities available to them. At home, you can choose the timing of the workout that best fits your schedule. Working remotely gives you an ample amount of time to just roll out of bed and work out. Getting fit at home will also save driving time to and from the gym, changing in the locker room, waiting for equipment to get free, etc. All of that often adds up to more time than your actual workout!

    No Crowds

    During the ongoing pandemic, people have been advised to maintain social distancing. And doing yoga or workout will save you from the unnecessary crowd. It is better and safe to work out at home and prevent themselves from getting infected.

    Focus on Your Workout

    There can be a lot of disturbance at the gym. People wanting to chat with you, or sometimes people seek your help in weight lifting. At home, no one is there to disturb you and you could be able to better focus on your workout routine and benefit from a more efficient workout.

    You Pick the Music

    Sometimes music can be a very motivating factor while doing exercise, and burn calories at home allows you to choose the song according to your preference. Listen to music whatever you want and at the volume you want. Also, you can get rid of those annoying earbuds that keep wanting to fall out!

    Wear What You Want

    Working out at home allows you to carry clothes according to your preference. At home, no one is going to judge if you’re wearing last night’s t-shirt or some dirty sweatpants to work out. The only thing you should worry about is getting some sweat while doing the exercise.

    Fewer Germs

    Gyms are the most contagious place to get infected, avoiding the gym can also avoid you getting germs and sweat.  There’s nothing worse than going to your favorite piece of equipment at the gym only to find the previous user left you a nice puddle of sweat. Commercial gyms have an ample amount of germs, from the cardio equipment to the benches to the weights. At home, you at least know who has used the equipment and can control how clean you keep it.

    If you’re a regular gym-goer, then that’s great and you should keep it up! But, if going to the gym is a huge barrier to your fitness, consider starting a home gym. Cater it to your needs and start small so that you’re encouraged to use it.
