Haflong : The Hmar Students’ Association (HSA) Harangajao Block was shocked and dismayed to the recent spate of events that has unfolded in Harangajao and demanded justice to deliver without delay.

A press release issued by the HAS Harangajao block stated that on 24th April, 2020 Santosh Hojai of Harangajao was abducted from his residence by unknown miscreants and his dead body was recovered at Lailing Reserve Forest under Langting Police Station, in what seemed to be a clear case of murder.

HSA condemned in the strictest term the failure of Dima Hasao District administration in general and the law enforcement agencies in particular to protect the lives of the people.

It was still in disbelief as to how such a tragic and unfortunate incident could have happened at a time when nationwide lockdown due to Covid-19 is implemented strictly. It has brought to the fore the failure of concern authorities to protect the life and liberty of the people. That the residents of Harangajao were peace loving and wanted more action from the higher authorities that it would never lost a soul again in the hands of blood baying murderers.

The HSA Harangajao Block, therefore, urged the Government of Assam and Dima Hasao district administration to investigate the matter without further delay and brought to book whosoever was involved in the abduction and murder of Hojai and also to ascertain the cause of the death of Mr Ramakanta Dey (Head teacher of Michikhur Part-ii LP School, Ditokcherra), whose dead body was found near Ditokchera Railway Station on 1st May, 2020 so that justice could be delivered.
They expressed deepest sympathies and pray to the Almighty God that He be with the bereaved families in this hour of grief.
