Huge participation in 2nd round Dehangi Angling tournament

Haflong :The second round of Dehangi Angling tournament held on Saturday attracted huge participation of anglers from neighboring state like Manipur, Nagaland, Meghalaya and district like Karbi Anglong including anglers from Haflong .

Angling was started right at 7 am and was concluded at 4 pm, many anglers caught fishes of various species but three anglers were adjudged as 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

1st Prize Royal Enfield bagged by Shri Lalvuana Nampui, from Fiangpui Haflong. 2ndPrize Bajaj Pulsar bagged by Shri Longsing Teron from Karbi Anglong District and 3rdPrize Scooty bagged Shri Monsing Hojai from Dehangi.

Winners were felicitated and awarded the prizes in glittering prize giving ceremony and attended by MLA B B Hagjer as chief guest, Executive Member, Nipolal Hojai, Darnei, MACs Nojit Kemprai, Monjit Naiding, Projit Hojai, CCF M Tungnung etc among others.

Participants and prize winners while appreciating the organizers expressed their satisfaction over the arrangements and assured that more and more anglers are to be join in the final round scheduled to be held on September 14 next.

This angling tournament has been aimed for promotion of conservative angling with rod and reel, boosting tourism and engagement of youths in the field of self-employment through adventure sports like water rafting and angling in the region.

Under the initiative of Shri Debolal Gorlosa, Chief Executive Member, N C Hills Autonomous Council, Dima Hasao, with the motto of “CAST FOR A CAUSE”, three mega angling tournament in a row.

This mega event is organized with support from Department of Forest, Fisheries and Tourism.
It is learnt that during the Angling tournament use of plastic would remain banned and organic food will be arranged in and around the Angling spot.
