  • I&B Secretary Amit Khare asserts each district in country should have at least one community radio

    Information and Broadcasting Secretary Amit Khare today asserted that each district in the country should at least have one community radio to sensitize local people about various social and developmental issues around their community.

    Mr Khare was speaking at the inaugural session of the three-day long 7th National Community Radio Sammelan in New Delhi. Mr Khare said, services rendered by the community radios occupy a pivotal role for local requirements and has brought a big change in the rural spaces.

    The 7th Community Radio Sammelan is being organized by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Representatives of all community radios across the country are participating in the event. They will discuss the experiences and possibilities of programming for better public awareness on the Sustainable Development Goals.

    The programme will also have deliberations on various flagship schemes of the government like the Jal Shakti Abhiyaan and efforts for Disaster Risk Reduction. The theme of this year’s event is “Community Radio for Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs”.
