  • IDBI Bank donates Solar Street Lights to Pokhra Village, Barabankhi as CSR Initiative

Raghavan, CMD, IDBI Bank today donated solar street lights to the local populace of Pokhra Village, Barabankhi, UP as a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of the Bank.,. Shri P. L. Punia, Member, Lok Sabha and Chairperson of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes presided over the function. Shri S.K.V. Srinivasan, Executive Director, IDBI Bank was also present.

    Barabankhi district in general and Pokhra village in particular faces a scarcity of power and water supply. Speaking on the occasion, Shri Raghavan said “IDBI Bank has donated solar street lights to Pokhra Village to alleviate the problem to the extent possible in our own modest way. This initiative, we hope, would improve the quality of life of the residents of this village. It is also a manifestation of the Bank’s role as a conscientious and responsible corporate citizen of India.”

    IDBI Bank has been pro-actively undertaking CSR projects across the country and has identified ‘Rural Infrastructure’ as one of the thrust areas in its CSR policy. In its hierarchy of CSR project funding, IDBI Bank has accorded pole position to projects which benefit the marginalised sections of the society viz. SCs, STs, OBCs, persons with disabilities (PwDs), minorities and women. Further, in view of its pan-India operations, the Bank consciously pursues balanced spatial distribution of CSR initiatives to this group.
