    Published on May 5, 2011

New Delhi: Indian Institute of Job Training (IIJT), India’s fastest growing vocational education and training organization and TeamLease Services, India’s largest staffing solutions company today launched its second VSAT enabled facility to enable last mile access to employability enhancement training. The VSAT infrastructure will enable IIJT to give quality career skills training to all candidates, even those in more remote locations who may have been limited by lack of access to quality faculty, infrastructure and exposure to industry professionals.

Mr. Sharda Prasad, Director General, Employment & Training and Joint Secretary, Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India emphasized on the need to fix India’s people supply chain to prevent what could turn out to be a demographic disaster due to lack of right skills amongst the workforce. He said, “In order to make skills development relevant, industry had to be involved in their design. To this end, a Committee was set up to run courses demanded by industry as well as organising work placements.” Technology can play a pivotal role in providing quality training to people irrespective of their geographical accessibility. ‘Skilling people’ is a big challenge for the whole world and nowhere more so than India.”

Neeti Sharma, Vice President at TeamLease Services Pvt. Ltd. stated that the non-availability of quality faculty across the country particularly for advanced modules was one of the reasons for investing into satellite technology. She further informed that, “A minimum of 25% of all our career courses are taught from the studio. The Career Seminars are only the first in series of VSAT based interventions that will also include soft skill, pre-placement seminars, etc. Besides normal classes, one of the most effective satellite interventions will be ‘Train-the-trainer’ programs for our range of programs across finance, accounting, sales, marketing, hardware/networking, and English.

IIJT’s VSAT facility was launched in September 2010 followed by a series of Career Seminars by real-life professionals from corporate like PWC, BILT. Café Coffee Day, Kotak Life Insurance to name a few; for the benefit job seekers and students. These seminars, delivered through satellite gave real time industry overview and exposure to more than 1000 students so far.The Institute has also launched career courses like the CFP in partnership with FPSBI to provide training via VSAT and ensure quality education. A VSAT class room can accommodate 25-40 students depending on the size of class room and there will be two such class rooms per centre. In addition, VSAT classrooms are set up in all PPP employment exchanges that TeamLease operates or proposed to operate with various state governments like Karnataka, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, etc
