IIT Delhi Alumni Association (IITDAA) celebrated 75th Independence Day with a unique program

Mumbai: Lt General D P Pandey (Commanding Officer of 15th Corp – AVSM, VSM), Chief guest of the event, gave inspirational speech and described his life journey in Army. A journey full of courage and devotion towards the country. He also urged IITians to explore ideas and opportunities to support Indian Army with their technical abilities to find futuristic solutions. Today’s world is technology driven & territorial independence of any country would depend upon its technological capabilities in future. 


Mr Shabbir Boxwala, Guest of Honor of the event, shared his journey of how “Shershah” movie was born from an interesting read & converted into reality. It was challenging to shoot a movie at Kargil locations, but he received lot of support from Army & family of Capt Vikram Batra during this journey of 5 years. The movie has been a big hit, not just in India but across the world. 

Mr Vishal Batra, (brother of Capt Vikram Batra) Guest of Honor of the event, shared his moments with his brother, a war hero, who received highest army honour Param Veer Chakra for his acts of bravery during Kargil war. 
Mr. Kalpen Shukla, President of IITDAA, welcomed dignitaries & mentioned that alumni association will continue to promote such activities to share inspiring stories of Army Heroes and felicitate these heroes of the Nation. He also promised Lt Gen Pandey that, IITD will specifically encourage entrepreneurs to work in defense related technologies. 


Mr Gaurav Goyal, Head of National City Chapters, IITDAA, was moderator of the event, suggesting that IITDAA will do more programs across cities to support families of Army personnel. 


The event ended with vote of thanks by Rakesh Bansal (IITDAA Secretary) and playing National Anthem.
