Mangaldai  :  After the Golaghat and Jorhat hooch tragedy  Darrang district administration has risen from the slumber and started crackdown against illicit country liquor trade which has allegedly been running  in the district in connivance with a section of corrupt Excise and Police officials. In last two days  the crackdown in several parts of Mangaldai and Dhula reportedly resulted  destroy of more than 600 litres of spurious country liquor and seizure of large no of utensils used for preparation of such liquors . According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (HQ), Darrang ,Mamoni Hazarika more than 500 litres of illicit country liquor have been destroyed on Saturday in joint raids of Excise and Police teams in several pockets including Prafulla Nagar and Baruapara under Mangaldai Police Station . Earlier on Friday  in similar raids on few other locations  including Ramhari under Mangaldai PS and Tangni Bagan under Dhula PS more than one hundred litres of country liquor filled in polythin packets besides different utensils used for preparation of liquor. However no arrest was made during the raids, DSP added.. On the other hand illicit country liquor trade has allegedly been running unabated in several areas under Dalgaon Police Station including Botabari , Koupati and even near Dalgaon HS School barely few hundred meters away from the Police Station which has come to light in a string operation of the media on Saturday much to the embarrassment of Darrang police and Excise Department .Meanwhile talking to this reporter a higher official of Darrang police has assured stringent action against the illicit traders within very short time .
