Earlier, the delegation sat down to discuss the ongoing unrest at Prashant Phukan’s residence, from where they headed to CM’s residence.
    BJP leaders met CM to demand immediate implementation of clause 6 of the Assam Accord and to provide security to the “Assamese” language. After meeting the CM, BJP leader Padma Hazarika said that the delegation has sought to preserve the Assamese language, and it should be declared a state language.

    He said that after looking into the situation in the state, the delegation has urged CM Sonowal to take immediate measures to prevent unrest in the state.The MLA also alleged that although a committee was formed for the implementation of clause 6 of the Assam Accord, the process remained sluggish, and urged the committee to expedite the process of compiling its report. Padma Hazarika also alleged that such a humiliating situation has been witnessed in the state for some ministers in the state. This needs to be curbed immediately, Hazarika emphasizes.Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, on the other hand, accused the opposition Congress and ‘communal forces’ of being behind the ongoing violent protests in the state, saying that those involved in sabotage and violence during protests against the amended citizenship law Strict action will be taken.Sonowal said that the violence is part of a political conspiracy against the BJP-led Assam government. Along with this, he committed to protect the rights of the original inhabitants of the state.

    Sonowal told the media persons ‘Congress and some communal forces are behind the violence. Even some radical leftists are included in the crowd. This is a political conspiracy.
    The Chief Minister said that the government will not tolerate violence and strict action will be taken against whoever is involved in the sabotage. The Chief Minister said this in connection with the violence against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act 2019 for the last three days in the state.
