A ceremonial parade comprising 24 platoons and a guard of honour by 50 men marked the Independence Day celebrations at the Southern Naval Command in Kochi.

Flag Officer Commanding in Chief of the Command, Vice Admiral Anil Kumar Chawla reviewed the parade. The event was preceded by the Vice Admiral placing a wreath at the War Memorial of the naval base, as a tribute to the martyrs who laid down their lives for the country. All the naval ships in Kochi were “Dressed Overall” with various signal flags to mark the festive occasion.
