Mumbai : Netcore solutions in association with IBM, today successfully organized India’s first email archiving summit in Mumbai. This conference focused on the importance of email archival from a Legal Compliance perspective as well as the potential of archival industry which is estimated around $5 million in India.

An employee in India on an average receives 600 emails/week, and hence an email archiving solution is necessary for every organization. CIOs are constantly trying to find solutions to resolve challenges on email archival and discovery since 80% of the users cannot retrieve old emails and 26% of the organization cannot retrieve emails even from the backup.

Pioneers who graced this occasion were Pankaj Agrawal, Business Head, Netcore; Kalpit Jain, CTO, Netcore; Sebastian Joseph, President Technology and FM, Mudra Communications; Godwin Fernandes, CTO, ASK Investments.

Pankaj Agrawal, Business Head, Netcore mentions “The Email Archiving market is an almost $2 Billion market globally and is growing at a CAGR of close to 25%. However this market is in an early stage in India. As per rough estimates, the market size in India is around $5 Million. The way this market has evolved globally is that the initial growth is driven by compliance but soon the business benefits become compelling enough for even industries not governed by compliance to start adopting mail archiving. In India we see the same beginning to happen.”

Sebastian Joseph, President Technology, Mudra Communications said, “Only 15-20% of the mails have attachments including graphics which occupy more than 75% of the entire mailbox. These needs to be preserved for litigation purposes regardless how backdated they may be. The major issue with discovery requests is that there is no specific time limit which defines how far back a company must search.”

According to a study conducted by Netcore, 57% of the organizations procure email archiving solution to retrieve old emails, while 47% of the organization procures it to recover deleted emails. HR investigations and legal compliance comprises 41% and 26% of the reasons, why an organization invests in email archival solution.

Godwin Fernandes, CTO, ASK Investment mentions, “Email Archiving helps avoid any inadvertent deletion by users and also enables to quickly restore emails in case of a system crash thus lowering administrative costs. By archiving emails, Organizations are considered to be following Good Practices Model.”

“Netcore’s Emergic MailArray product is the only archiving solution from India which works seamlessly with any mailing solution be it Exchange/LotusNotes/Linux. Today this product is running for organizations like IDBI Bank which has 15,000+ users, IndusInd Bank with 7000+ users” says Kalpit Jain, CTO, Netcore Solutions.
