  • India enter CWG men’s hockey semi-final

    India thrashed arch rivals Pakistan 7-4 in the men’s hockey encounter of the commonwealth Games at Major Dhyanchand Hockey Stadium in New Delhi on Sunday.

    Sandeep Singh and Shivendra Singh both scored two goals each for the host team.

    It has been a terrific start for the India against arch rivals Pakistan in a much anticipated Group A men’s hockey encounter.

    India began with a bang, Sandeep Singh striking the first goal for India in the early minutes and in the 12th minute, he doubled the lead with another brilliant strike.

    Five minutes later, India was again on rampage, with Shivender Singh making the most of a pass from Sandeep, to make it 3-nil. In the 19th minute, Shravaneet Singh made it 4-nil.  Towards the end of the first half, Pakistan had a chance to hit back, and Mohammad Imran and Rizwan sounding the board at close intervals to ensure that the score read 4-2 at half time.

    The second half saw India once again on attack mode, with Danish and Dharamveer striking at close intervals to make it 6-2.
