  • India, Zimbabwe sign six agreements in various fields including Mining & Visa waver

    India will extend Line of credits of more than 350 million US Dollars to Zimbabwe for two power projects and a drinking water project.

    India will give about 3 million US dollar grant for upgradation of Indo-Zim Technology centre.  Assistance for construction of Mahatma Gandhi Convention Centre in Zimbabwe will also be granted by India.

    This was informed by T.S Tirumurti, Secretary Ministry of External Affairs today during a press briefing after delegation level talks between the two countries. He also informed that India will gift 10 Ambulances and life-saving drugs to Zimbabwe.

    India has also agreed for the deputation of experts in five fields to assist Zimbabwe. Around 6 agreements in various fields were also signed in areas including Mining, Visa waiver, Broadcasting and Culture.

    Earlier today, Vice President Shri M Venkaiah Naidu called on the President of Zimbabwe Emmerson Mnangagwa. He also had one on one meeting with the Vice President of Zimbabwe Kembo Mohadi.

    The Vice President is on a visit to 3 African nations namely Botswana, Zimbabwe and Malawi. AIR correspondent reports, the importance of India Zimbabwe relations can be ascertained from the fact that 4 former Prime Ministers and 2 former Presidents of India have visited Zimbabwe on various occasions in the past.

    This high level visit from Indian side is happening almost after 22 years. Both the countries resolved and reaffirmed today to re-energise their relationship and take it to newer heights.
