  • Indian Army must be prepared for future conflict: General Bipin Rawat

    Army Chief General Bipin Rawat has said that with the change of warfare scenario in recent times, the Indian Army must be prepared for future conflicts.

    He said, after 20 years of Kargil war, the nature of warfare stands constant but its conduct has changed as new emerging technologies are playing crucial role in it.

    General Rawat was speaking at the national seminar on 20 years after Kargil conflict organized by Centre for Land Warfare Studies in New Delhi today.

    Talking about the advent of innovative and scientific approaches, General Rawat said, cyber and space domain has changed the nature of the battlefield, therefore the army must take into account these realities.

    He said, future conflicts seem more violent and unpredictable, that is why the army’s strategy and response must be well-planned and integrated.

    On the occasion, a book titled ‘Surprise, Strategy and Vijay-20 years of Kargil and Beyond’ was released.

    The book gives a brief account of the various battles fought by the units and the thoughts and perceptions of the commanders on operational preparedness for the conflicts in the future.

    Replying to a media query on the sidelines of the event, Gen. Rawat said, there has been no intrusion by the Chinese in Ladakh’s Demchok sector.

    His statement comes amidst reports of Chinese soldiers crossing the Line of Actual Control last week after some Tibetans hoisted Tibetan flags on the occasion of Dalai Lama’s birthday on 6th of this month.

    India and China share a disputed border and the armies of the two countries were engaged in a stand-off for 73 days in 2017 in Doklam area.
