Indian origin artisanal coffee/tea and ingredient infused alcoholic drinks to trend in 2022, says Godrej Food Trends Report 2022

Mumbai, India: In the past few years, trends in the beverage industry has changed quite a bit and has become a cluttered space in India. The pandemic even prompted a rise in the making and consumption of home fermented beverages to build on one’s holistic health and detox naturally. Added to this, the rise of roasteries and artisanal farm to cup coffee from Coorg to Chikmagalur and beyond across the country.  The Indian spirit industry also witnessed a spike in demand as the evolving Indian youth loves to try out various Indian labels along with traditional drinks like feni.

People have become much more conscious of their drinking and eating habits and want to know the health and value attached to the beverage they consume. Here are top trends and insights that food experts in the industry believe would change the whole ecosystem of how we have been consuming our drinks –

Rushina Munshaw Ghildiyal, Curating Editor of the Godrej Foods Trends Report 2022 said, “In 2021, beverages were brought into consumers’ homes through solutions that put beverage experiences at the fingertips. In addition, consumers, with more time and disposable income, are engaging in hobbies related to their own preferences in beverages. It was predicted by our panel that in-home beverages will see more exploration in 2022. Almost half of the panel predicts that artisanal gourmet coffee and tea of Indian origin will continue to grow in the coming years. Mixers for home bartending will be favored during social gatherings at home. Innovation in these areas will continue to drive the food and beverage industry to cultivate a higher share of the in-home beverage market. The panel also foresees consumer fascination with ferments is not going away, as hobbyists continue to experiment with homemade fermented drinks.”
