The Indian Women’s Handball team will play its opening group match of the Jakarta Asian Games today. They will take on Kazakhstan. The Games will officially begin in the Indonesian capital on Saturday with an opening ceremony, but competitions in many events, such as Handball and Football, kicked off yesterday.

The Indian Men’s Handball team began its campaign with a 28-38 defeat against Chinese Taipei.

In the 13-team Men’s competition, India have been clubbed with Chinese Taipei and Iraq in Pool-D. There are four groups. In the Women’s draw, 10 teams will be vying for Gold.

India is in Pool-A alongside Kazakhstan, South Korea, China and North Korea.
