The Indian High Commission in Australia today said that Indians have been severely affected in the devastating floods in Queensland but they are not among the casualties. This was stated in a statement from Canberra today.

The mission has advised relatives of Indian and overseas students based in Queensland to contact a 24-hour information line which has been set up by the state government. The numbers are 0061-7-30556220 or 1300993191. It has also asked the international students travelling to Queensland to check latest updates on floods, apart from other safety measures.

Affecting 12,000 homes in the city of 2 million and leaving 1,18,000 buildings without power, these floods have claimed twelve lives uptil now.
