  • India’s Petronet to import five million tonnes of LNG from US Company Tellurian

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi met CEOs of 17 global energy companies at Houston in the United States today. The companies which participated in the round table meet have some engagement and presence in India.

    On the sidelines, an MoU was signed between Tellurian, a Houston-based energy major and India’s Petronet LNG. Petronet will invest 2.5 billion US dollar in Tellurian’s proposed Driftwood LNG export terminal in the US, in exchange for the rights to 5 million metric tonnes of LNG per year over 40 years. The CEOs lauded the Government of India’s efforts towards Ease of Doing Business, steps taken towards deregulation in the sector.

    The CEOs also supported reforms and policies and were upbeat about the Indian economy. In an exclusive interview to AIR News, Secretary, Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Guru Prasad Mahapatra, who attended the CEOs’ meeting, said it is a reflection of growing Indo-US ties.

    Prime Minister Modi also met hundreds of Indian-Americans at at Hotel Post Oak where the CEOs’ meeting took place.
