  • Indo-US bilateral aviation safety agreement soon: Ravi

    Civil Aviation minister Vayalar Ravi today said the executive agreement for bilateral aviation safety agreement between India and United States will be signed very soon after getting internal approvals.

    During his meeting with US Commerce Secretary Gary Locke, Mr. Ravi sought priority treatment for grant agreement for the Inspector training programme or Technical Management and Operational Development Training for the Directorate General of Civil Aviation .

    AIR correspondent reports, both sides also exchanged views how to further bi-lateral cooperation and agreed to hold the third India-US Aviation Summit this year in India at a mutually convenient date.

    Mr. Vayalar Ravi thanked Mr. Locke for committing to fund a technical assistance programme for the Airport Authority of India for the installation and operational certification of a pilot Ground Based Augmentation System at Chennai International Airport . This will help improve the safety and efficiency of India’s air traffic management systems.
