New Delhi: On Day 2 of the first Cricket Test match between Australia and India in Pune, India suffered a batting collapse as Australian bowlers put the hosts on the backfoot just after Lunch.
India lost seven quick wickets for just 11 runs after resuming at 70 for three after lunch and were bundled out for 105. With this, India trail by 155 runs behind Australia’s first inning’s score of 260. K.L. Rahul was the highest scorer who made 64. For Aussies Steve O’Keefe was the most successful bowler claiming sic wickets for 35.
In the second inning, the visiting team was 46 for two at tea.
Virat Kohli was out for a duck for the first time in Tests in India and for the fifth time in his Test career when Mitchell Starc removed him.
Earlier, resuming their first innings at overnight score of 256 for 9, Australi were all out for 260. Umesh Yadav was the most successful bowler with four wickets followed by R. Ashwin who picked up three wickets.
For Australia, young Matt Renshaw’s 68 and Starc’s half century was the the highlight.
This is the first of the 4 test matches played in Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
