Intense cold is being experienced across Himachal Pradesh, after recent snowfall and rain.

The temperature remained near freezing point at many places after recent heavy snowfall and rain across the State.

Our correspondent reports, famous tourist places of state are reeling under below subzero temperatures after recent snowfall.

The state capital Shimla, which received 49 cm of snowfall, experienced its coldest night at minus 1.1 degree Celsius.

While Tribal district Lahaul and Spiti’s administrative centre Keylong continued to be the coldest place in the state at minus 11.8 degrees Celsius.

The water supply in district remained frozen due to extreme cold. However, all necessary arrangements have been made by the district administration.

In Kinnaur district the administration is working on war footing to restore electricity and water supply in the district.

Meanwhile, Shimla and its surrounding area received light snowfall today.

State weather department has predicted snowfall and rain at few isolated places of the state today.
