  • Inter District Senior Football Championship in Assam’s Bhergaon.

    Mangaldai  : Dibrugarh , Karbi Anglong , Kokrajhar and Tinsukia have moved into the semi finals of the  Khirod Baruah memorial sixty seventh Inter District Senior Football tournament at Bhergaon near here . Dibrugarh and Karbi Anglong   have emerged victorious  in the two quarter final matches scheduled on Thursday . In the first match at the Bhergaon High School play ground, Dibrugarh district sports association got walk over in the absence of their opponent Biswanath Chariali while in the second match Karbi Anglong district upsetGuwahati by a convincing margin of 3-1. Gijnash Deka put Guwahati  in the lead in the 40th minute and the lead was maintained till the first half . In the second half Lalding Chang scored two back to back goals in the 75th and 88th minutes took Karbi Anglong to 2-1 lead . Just few seconds before the final whistle Ilias Puma increased the margin to 3-1 for the winners . Earlier in the two matches of the  inaugural day on Wednesday , Tinsukia drubbed Morigaon district by 4-2 while Kokrajhar trounced Silchar 5-0 in an extremely one sided affair . Earlier the tournament organised by Bhergaon District Sports Association was ceremonially inaugurated by Kalaigaon Legislator Maheswar Boro in presence of  Deputy Speaker of BTC Nerson Daimary and several office bearers of the Assam Football Association including its Vice President Lakhshi Kanta Boro and Secretary Hemendra Nath Brahma among others . In the first semi final on Friday Tinsukia will take on Kokrajhar while in the second semis of the day Dibrugarh will lock horn with Karbi Anglong . The final of the championship will be played on June 9 next .
