Delhi : The valedictory session of the two-day national seminar on ‘“International Conference on Minerals and Metals – Outlook 2030”’ organized by NMDC in association with Government of India was concluded on Wednesday at Delhi. The two-day seminar saw participation from 500 plus participants from 16 countries, presentations from over 30 international speakers, CEO sessions and panel discussions on the theme of the seminar.

 

In his address as chief guest, Shri Mr. Haribhai Parthibhai Chaudhary, Minister of State for Coal & Mines, Govt of India said “We wish India to achieve the target of 300 million tones production of minerals by 2030 & will extend our support for the same“.

 

Mr. Bipul Pathak, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Mines, Govt of India said “India will boost the capacity of steel & iron production very soon”. All the issues related to creating a responsible community of Mineral and Metal producers were covered and deliberated in detail in the conference and also stressed upon the aspects showcased by experts that will create an health industry till the year 2030”. He also stressed, “Without the contribution of all, the potential of the Minerals and Metals industry cannot be achieved. Congratulating NMDC for the glorious journey of excellence in the last 60 years and achieving five star rating by IBM for all of its major mines, he said NMDC is a role model for other mining companies”.

 

Mr. Naveen Jindal, Chairman, Jindal Steel & Power Ltd said “India will be the second largest producer of steel in next couple of months“.

 

Dr Narendra K Nanda, Director (Technical), NMDC Ltd & Co-Chair, FICCI Mining Council said, “We are thankful to the GOI for contributing to the exposure required by Minerals and Metals industry. He also stressed upon eco-friendly mining techniques and optimum usage and conservation of these precious natural resources. NMDC has been leading from the front in ushering new technologies in the Minerals and Metals industry, conservation of natural resources and make the public more sensitized towards the hazards that operators face in the minerals and metals industry”.

 

In his welcome address Dr T R K Rao, Director (Commercials), NMDC Ltd gave the details of the different aspects the industry can take to enhance and encourage the use of technology in Mining. NMDC as an eco-friendly company utilizing latest technologies is leading the metals and minerals industry towards zero effect, zero defect and zero waste management which will have negligible impact on the environment.  He also appreciated the experts from different countries who presented their case studies and were participants, on how the industry has to gear up to be relevant and impactful till the year 2030. He also said these two days of knowledge sharing on metals and minerals will forge new partnerships between Indian and international companies and help create new pathways of collaboration.

The research work that was presented and the various technologies that were discussed showcased upon giving thrust on infrastructure development. Growth of the Minerals and Metals industry depends on infrastructural development and he also appreciated the road map prepared by the Government of India which will increase the investment opportunities”.
