  • MUMBAI: Amandeep Singh, Founder of National Organisation For Social Empowerment or National NGO has dedicated his life to the virtuous cause of helping the oppressed and downtrodden people. He further started the National Rehab Center to support the needy.

Q.)How did the Rehab Center idea transpire?

A.) I am among those who believe in doing something good to bring a change.Despite being the wisest species on the earth, we have not found out the way to have an inclusive society. On the other hand, despite having a legacy of a benevolent society, India is still one of the poorest countries of the world. The reasons are enormous and to combat this challenge, the participation of civil society is must. Few of us think about this and only a handful of them take any action.

Thus, after establishing the organisation in 2012, that helps the downtrodden people, I initiated this project named National Rehab Centre in Tughlakabad, where a unique combination of care and education is provided to the needy and downtrodden. Currently, National Rehab Centre is providing free education to around 60 children residing in the nearby slum areas.

Q.)How does the Rehab Centre help?

A.)It has been seen that education is the best remedy to fight against poverty. The National Rehab Centre provides quality education to nearby children with best practices.  The National Rehab Centre broadly works in two areas: Health and Education.

Q.)Can you elaborate how the Health and Education issues are addressed by the Rehab Center?

A.)Health: National Rehab Centre has permanent physiotherapists who help people suffering with injuries, back pain and other issues which hamper their daily activities. The physiotherapy centre uses the latest technology equipment which makes treatment highly effective. The team of National Rehab Centre has more than 15 years of experience in providing treatment and assisting in the rehabilitation of differently-abled people. The staff members have a variety of backgrounds (special education, counseling, early childhood development and psychology, etc.). They are all certified (or in the process of certification) with the Rehabilitation council of India. Additional external staff acts as consultants or mentors as needed in various areas like occupational therapy, physiotherapy, neuro-development therapy, sensory integration therapy, speech therapy, etc. These consultants are available at their rehab centre or on call.Education: The centre provides free and quality education to underprivileged and differently-abled children. Their expert teachers take individual approaches while dealing with students. This approach has enabled National Rehab Centre to educate the downtrodden students according to the recent development. Apart from education, it also enriches students with soft skills which enable them to assimilate into mainstream society. “We have firm belief that with this education, these students will fly to the skies. In creating an inclusive society, we need hundreds of interventions like this. And for doing this, we need your support.”

Q.)How do you envisage the success of the Rehab Center?A.)In today’s world, where thousands of children are still suffering to get education or food, the National Organisation For Social Empowerment is functioning wholeheartedly for reshaping the lives of thousands of underprivileged and differently-abled children of the society.Together, we can make a change!
