  • Introduction of GST been positive revenue event for Arunachal: Deputy CM Chowna Mein

    Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein said that the introduction of Goods & Services Tax has been a positive revenue event for the state.

    He said, there is a growth in revenue collection in the State since the implementation of GST.

    Talking to media persons in Itanagar, Mr Mein said that Arunachal Pradesh is one of the few States to record positive growth since the implementation of GST and so is not entitled to receive compensation from Government of India.

    He said the collection for the financial year 2018-19 in the state from GST was 569.41 Crore rupees and witnessed almost 111 per cent growth in comparison with 9 months of previous Financial Year.

    Mr Mein, who is also the state’s Finance Minister, said that the most striking feature of GST Implementation in Arunachal Pradesh has been an exponential growth in the number of registered dealers.

    He said, sustained efforts for the widening of tax base, in the form of Taxpayer Outreach Programs, Market Surveys were made, which have resulted in a 140 per cent growth in the assessee base.
