  • Inviting Exceptional Students For The LSEF-UMASS Postgraduate Scholarships 2019

    Lakshmipat Singhania Education Foundation (LSEF) and University of Massachusetts, Amherst (UMassare jointly offering the prestigious LSEF-UMass Scholarships for Post-Graduate Studies (2019). In a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, selected students are offered scholarships to pursue  MS in  Applied Economics, MS in Data Analytics, and Masters in Public Policy at UMass Amherst,  making a top-30 public university of US  accessible to meritorious students in India.

     

    The Scholarships, worth Rs. 20 lakhs each, are funded by UMass and LSEF and cover 50 percent of the tuition and academic fees for the two-year degree program. Students who have completed (or will complete in 2019) at least a 3-year undergraduate degree program from an accredited University in India is eligible to apply. The Foundation especially encourages students with exceptional merit, who may have limited means to pursue education abroad, to apply. The selection will be based on applicants’ academic record, letters of recommendation, statement of purpose and personal interview with a panel from U Mass, Amherst, and LSEF.

     

    The Lakshmipat Singhania Education Foundation, a philanthropic initiative of the 125-year-old industrial group – JK Organisation, has been working tirelessly in the space of education for nearly five decades now. It educates over 38,000 students through its various schools and higher education institutions in India and has played a a major role in nation building.

     

    Founded in 1863, UMass Amherst houses more than 28,000 students from 71 countries; making it the largest public research university in New England, distinguished by the excellence and breadth of its programs. It is ranked 26th out of over 700 public universities in the US (according to US News & World Report 2019) and is among the top 125 global universities in Arts, Humanities, Engineering & Technology (according to Times Higher Education Global Rankings).

     

    The initial period of the programme will be based in India where students will require to undertake courses relevant to the degree  and the final three semesters will be undertaken at the University of Massachusetts Amherst campus. The degree in Data Analytics as well as in Applied Economics at UMass have received the STEM classification and come with the attendant additional OPT benefit.

     

    The selected students will be taught by world-class faculty from both India and the US by renowned academicians like Dr. SubhashisGangopadhyay, Dr. Krishna Ladha and Dr. Alasdair Roberts, among others. The scholarship is stepping forward by another corporation to make quality education more affordable for Indian students.
