Kolkata: The basic question strikes to every B-schools in the educational scenario of India and are we able to inculcate the right moral values among the corporate youth of the nation? In the digital economy, where we stand in terms of individual social responsibility?
Moving towards this direction, Management Educaion Centre of Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata, has formed a community services body “SEVA” which is dedicated towards honorary charitable activities for the welfare of the poor and underprivileged. SEVA was being established in the year 2008 and from that year it was a mandate in the curriculum of MBA students to contribute for the welfare of the poor as an individual social responsibility.
On 24th February, 2011, SEVA visited South Kolkata and donated old clothes to the street dwellers who cannot afford to buy clothes and after that they visited Bharat Sheva Ashram, where they donated the same to the poor people of the Ashram. The students and the faculty members were very much enthusiastic in performing the charitable activity and the whole team was led by Professor Gagan Pareekh and Assistant Professor, Sanghamitra Brahma, who actively guided the students in performing the same. One interesting point to be highlighted was that all the old clothes which were donated to the poor people was being contributed by the staff members and faculties of Heritage Group of Institutions, Kolkata.
It was indeed a memorable event in the history of Heritage Group of Institutions, Kolkata.
