Jal Shakti Minister calls for judicious use of water

Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has called for judicious use of water to save the country from future calamities.

Speaking at the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of WAPCOS Limited, a Central government enterprise, at Chhath Ghat in New Delhi today, the Minister said, every drop of water should be saved and conserved.

Mr Shekhawat said, India is one of the most vulnerable countries in terms of water availability and population explosion has added more to the problem. He said, the scarcity of water in near future can worsen the situation.

The Minister said, there is need for revival of traditional water bodies and more vigorous effort should be made for water conservation.

Minister of State for Jal Shakti, Rattan Lal Kataria said, piped water scheme will achieve similar success like Swachh Bharat Mission as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is fully committed to achieve the goal.

Later, the Union Ministers were joined by hundreds of volunteers, NGO members and employees of WAPCOS in the cleaning of banks of Yamuna river and plantation of trees.
