Jorhat :  Swaheedi Divas observed commemorating Jallianwala Bagh massacre by several colleges, institutes and schools at the premises of the Jorhat College to salute to the heroes of the mass massacre along with the three great heroes Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru where special prayer meet was held along with a colourful procession was taken out by the students gathered through the main thoroughfare of the Jorhat city that was led by the Principal Dr. Debabrat Sharma, teachers and faculty members here today.

The was held to commemorate the 100 years of Jallianwala Bagh Massacre also along with the day of hanging the great freedom fighters who gave their lives that was organized jointly by Jorhat College and Gurudwara Ramgarahia Sabha followed by mass meet where several individuals spoke on the occasion and their contribution for the country and the3 type opf quality they had for the contribution of freedom movement, said Hardip Singh, a member from the Gurudwara Ramgarahia Sabha.

During the mass meeting on the occasion of Swaheedi Divas the event of Bhagat Singh along with his associates Sukhdev Thapar and Shivaram Rajguru were hanged to death for the assassination of 21-year-old British police officer John Saunders was discussed and paid tribute to these great leaders . They mistook Saunders, who was still on probation, for the British police superintendent, James Scott, whom they had intended to assassinate. They believed Scott was responsible for the death of popular Indian nationalist leader Lala Lajpat Rai, by ordering a lathi charge in which Rai was injured, and, two weeks after which, died of a heart attack. A police constable was also shot dead along with Saunders by Chandra Shekhar Azad and more over the mass gathering seeks apology from the British,Hardip Singh added
