In Jammu and Kashmir, three terrorists were killed and an Army Jawan martyred in an encounter in Pulwama district early this morning.

Acting on a tip-off about the presence of terrorists in the Kharpora Sirnoo village, the troops of Rashtriya Rifles, Special Operation Group of state police and CRPF launched a joint search operation.

When the forces zeroed-in, hiding terrorists started firing indiscriminately, which triggered an encounter.

A police spokesman said two Army jawans were injured. One of the Army jawan later succumbed to his injuries.

Director General Police Dilbagh Singh told AIR that seven stone pelters were also killed as they came dangerously close to the encounter site.
