Haflong :Though the Covid positive graph is declining significantly in Dima Hasao but people seemed to be unwilling to come forward voluntarily for covid test perhaps due to superstition and indifferent attitude has become a cause of serious concern, stated Dr Dipali Barman, Joint Director, Dima Hasao Health Services.
Dr Barman talking to this correspondent said our people are still indifferent about the gravity of corona virus, they are unwilling to come forward in mass for test, only asymptomatic and symptomatic people are coming. When our people reach to them they sometime flee from their houses through back door. Yes, there are some people who voluntarily come forward for test and to keep their people safe maintain the covid protocol properly.
As it is a matter of fact the Medical team of Dima Hasao with 50% doctors’ strength and lack in proper infrastructure has to fight pandemic. Till date the ICU at Haflong Civil Hospital is under construction and many things are to be provided to the only Civil Hospital of the district in fighting this pandemic. More over people mostly approach the doctors after being seriously ill thereby making the situation critical.
It is to be noted that despite all these constrains as many as thirteen delivery cases of covid patients have been successfully attended at Haflong civil hospital, first one being on 9th July, 2020 under the supervision of Dr. Dipali Barman who is also Joint Director of the Health services of Dima Hasao along with Dr. Ronald Bathari and other nursing staff of Haflong Civil Hospital.
