  • Journalists bodies condemn : Badruddin Ajmal Yells At Journalist, Throws Mic

    Guwahati : The All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) chief Badruddin Ajmal on Wednesday yelled at a journalist in Mankachar under South Salmara-Mankachar district.The incident occurred during a press conference, as the AIUDF chief got into an ugly fight with the journalist after he enquired about possible alliance of Ajmal’s party with BJP and Congress in the up coming Lok Sabha polls. The AIUDF chief used unparliamentary words against the journalist, abused him and threw the mics at him. Later Ajmal also asked the journalist to apologies for the question.temper during a press conference after being questioned by a journalist. Ajmal also used abusive words during the press briefing. He had also thrown booms of news channels.

    The misbehaviour with the journalist, use of abusive words and threatening were condemned by various journalists and organisations. In protest against the MP’s act, several journalists and organisations staged protest at different location across the State. Thery also demanded apology from Ajmal. The Tihu journalists led by the Tihu Sub-divisional Journalists’ Union staged protest by burning an effigy of Ajmal.Besides, Baksa District Bengali Yuva-Chatra Parishad, Gorkha Students’ Union, Tamulpur Press Club, Gauripur Press Club, Young Journalist Union of Assam,Journalists Association of Assam (JAA), National Union of Journalist India (NUJI), AJYCP Orang branch and many others also staged protest against Ajmal’s behavior. When the TV journalist asked a question on whether the party will take sides on whosoever forms the government at the centre, Ajmal got angry and threw off the reporter’s mic. Ajmal got into an ugly fight with the journalists. Ajmal then asked, “You are asking a good question. How much money will you give me? You recorded this. This man is an opportunist. This guy is also defaming other reporters. Get lost.” The AIUDF chief also used unparliamentary language and said, “You are sold out. Get out… I will break down your head. Go and file a case against me. Assault him if he again visits this place.According to sources, the dispute broke out when the journalist asked Mr Ajmal which political front he would align with in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

    Although the politician replied that the AIUDF would ally with the “Mahagathbandhan”, the journalist persisted in his queries. This time, he asked if Mr Ajmal would be willing to pitch in with any party that forms the government at the centre. The Dhubri parliamentarian did not take kindly to being called an opportunist. He hurled a couple of choice abuses at the journalist before asserting that the AIUDF was not for sale. “He is asking for how much money will I be sold to the BJP? His father will be sold, not me,” he shouted. “Thousands of my men are out there, and one signal is all I need to end you.” An AIUDF leader seated next to Mr Ajmal then asked the journalist to apologise, to which he obliged. The journalist later filed a police case against the politician, and said that he had apologised under pressure. “I was forced to apologise… I did it to save my life. I have already filed an FIR,” he said.State-wide condemnation against Badruddin Ajmal for misbehaving with media person.Journalists Association of Assam General Secretary and National Union of Journalist India National Vice president Bhupen Goswami condemned Ajmal’s behaviour and said that the MP should learn how to behave properly with Media Persons.
