  • Journalists should take respectable position in the society

    Jorhat : Along with the rest of the country, Jorhat journalists, educationists, literaturer, students, teachers from the Mass Communication department of Assam Women University and members from Jorhat Press club took part in the day long in an well organized National {Press Day celebration that was organized at the Jorhat Press Club by the members of Jorhat Press Club which was presided by Niranjan Mahanta, the president of the club here today.

    Prominent writer, columnist and senior journalist like Dr. Basanta Goswami, Taj-Uddin Ahmed, Lalit Bora, PK Singh, Samiran Bordoloi, Dr. Tapan Dutta, Smita Bhattachatyya and Dushyanta Mabdab Sarma took part and spoke on the occasion. Dr. Basanta Kumar Goswami, former Asom Sahitya Sabha general secretary asked the journalists to create and take respectable position in the society and to play a very positive role for the greater interest of the society.

    Md. Taj-Uddin Ahmed, former News editor of Dainik Janambhumi, a vernacular daily analyzed the role of city and rural journalists, its past and future. Journalist should be committed to complete its duty without biasness and should not report day to day happening, so that it does not reach to extreme point of reporting so that it does not bring chaos or panic that confused among the common mass. More attraction through investigation should be stressed by the daily newspaper otherwise social media confusing common masses which at the end has no meaning, but a big confusion.

    Earlier Ananta Narayan Borthakur, senior journalist and secretary of Jorhat Press Club welcomed the gathering and spoke about the importance of the National Press Day which needed to be observed for strengthening and exchanging thought in the field of day to day reporting.
