The international championship, held in London every year, brings together winners from across 36 countries to compete in the finals held at Savoy Place in London for a cash prize of £1,000.

The regional finals in Mumbai, held at the K. J. Somaiya Institute of Engineering & Information Technology (KJSIEIT), witnessed over 150engineers vying for the top honors. The panel of judges comprised of Mr. Subhash Deshpande – Retd. Managing Director of Jacobs Pvt. Ltd., Dr. K.T.V Reddy – Principal of Padmabhushan Vasanthraodada Patil Pratisthan College of Engineering and Dr. Sunita Sane -Head of Dept. of MCA, VJTI. The panel judged participants on their presentation skills, professionalism and technical content.

Speaking at the occasion Shekhar Sanyal, Country Head and Director, IET India said “Historically, engineers have largely focused on development of technical skills, ignoring a critical component – soft skills. Engineers should focus on gaining critical skill sets beyond the technical domain. The PATW challenges engineers to excel at both technical and presentation skills, making this competition unique in its own way. It empowers young professionals by providing networking opportunities as well as creating a platform for knowledge sharing.”

Dr. Archana Bhise, Principal, KJSIEIT said “The IET has designed the PATW competition keeping in mind the holistic development of engineering professionals, thereby enabling them to be on par with global counterparts. We hosted the PATW competition at our college as we saw a strong alignment with our aim of creating holistic education. The PATW helps engineering students to focus on skills like communication and presentation which are equally important in their career.”

The PATW is one of the most awaited and exciting international events organised by IET, which hosts a series of other events such as lectures, seminars, conferences and contests to introduce engineers to the future of science and technology. The professional body, one of the largest in the world, works to promote the positive role of science, engineering and technology amongst the engineering community.
