greatlakesGreat Lakes Institute of Management is organizing ‘Karma Yoga Convention’ at its campus at Manamai, Chennai on August 24, 2013. This convention will be a forum to bring together various stakeholders from the community under one roof: farmers, businessmen, local Panchayat leaders, students as well as corporate leaders who play an important role in rural development, thus creating a single platform for all their needs.

The Karma-Yoga Convention will see the participation of villagers in activities such as discussion forums, networking with visiting organizations, as well as performing music, dance and theatre. The purpose of this Convention is to link all available stakeholders and prospective collaborators directly with the villagers for perpetuating enduring partnerships for the sake of development.

Karma Yoga is a Leadership Experiential Program (LEP) for the students of Great Lakes Institute of Management. The program is designed for the students to connect with the ground realities and experientially learn transformational leadership besides inducting them onto Social Responsibility early in their careers. The LEP creates a mutual win-win situation for both the students and the villagers – the villagers of the 20 villages that have been adopted by Great Lakes and the students of Great Lakes. Karma Yoga program acts as a real life practical lab for the students to learn and experience the power of transformational leadership.
