  • Karnataka Medical Education minister asks D K Shivakumar not to politicise death of Dr. Nagendra

    Karnataka Medical Education minister Dr.K Sudhakar has asked the state Congress President D K Shivakumar not to politicise the death of Dr.Nagendra.

    He informed media persons in Bengaluru today that the Regional Commissioner of Mysuru has been appointed to conduct impartial enquiry into the reasons leading to the suicide of Dr. Nagendra and submit the report within seven days. He also informed that Government has announced a compensation of 50 lakh rupees to the family of the diseased doctor and Government employment to the doctor’s wife on compassionate grounds.

    He informed that efforts are being made to look into the grievances of doctors treating Covid patients without a break since the outbreak of the pandemic. He also added that the number of Covid tests will be increased from over 50,000 at present to one lakh per day so that the pandemic could be controlled at the earliest in the state.

    Meanwhile 7571 fresh Covid cases were reported today in the state and 93 deaths were also reported. 6561 patients were discharged after recovery. As on date the state has 83,066 active Covid cases. The state has conducted 57,623 RT PCR and rapid antigen tests today.
