  • Keeping Happy and Satisfied Employees

    Published on November 9, 2018

For the past decade, there is more information, studies, and knowledge concerning employee’s happiness at their jobs. People have correlated that a job and an employee is like a personal relationship. If the employee is unhappy, they feel they are not valued and appreciated and they have no reason to stay in that current job. This is just like a relationship and it is unhealthy. Workers still know that an excellent salary and benefits are part of job satisfaction, but it is not the whole picture. Workers also want to further their skills and advance themselves. People want to continually grow in their career and not stick in a stagnant workplace.

When a miserable staff member leaves, they will most likely communicate with others the harmful and toxic culture that exists at that particular company. This ultimately creates a buildup of a negative reputation throughout the community about the company and any of its’ leaders and managers. Potential clients, staff and other community members may stay far away because of the destructive conduct at the company to its’ current and former employees.

When employees have incentives, know their job is necessary, or they feel respected, then they will work harder. Staff needs to have a connection with the company that they work for since this adds value to the employee. As in a personal relationship, they will be happy and have no reason to leave. The benefits of happy employees mean more production of work, fewer turnovers and employee focus.

Employees that are happy with their job are satisfied people, and satisfied people love going to work and getting the job done. They will put more effort into their work, which in turn can increase sales, production or numbers that need to be elevated. Studies have shown that happy employees produce more, sales rise and even stock prices on companies that are, “best places to work” thrive far above the less popular companies.

The best way to start, just as in a personal relationship, is through communication. Communication with all staff members builds and creates new concepts and enterprises only by taking the time to listen. Resolutions and clarifications are easy to solve with productive and healthy connections with multiple staff members and positions.

There are multiple ways to make the employees and staff feel appreciated and wanted at their position. The first way is to communicate and open up to them. Ask them for feedback and suggestions for any improvements that they may think of. See if there is anything they want to recommend for creating a better work environment as well. Small and effective changes can bring a whole new mindset to the employee.

Incentives, rewards, prizes, and contests can push employees forward to getting their job done better and faster and at the same time, making them feel like they have a purpose in the organization. Giving awards, such as acrylic awards can make a dull or boring project into a fun competition for the whole staff. In addition, any employee of the month looks great on resumes for the employee too. The employee will have a much more fulfilled job experience if and when they eventually leave.

Building relationships in the community through volunteer work, philanthropy and charity events is an excellent way to have employees feel happier with their jobs. Knowing that their company makes an effort to donate time and money to the local community makes anyone think that they are doing good for others. When the business owners, CEOs, presidents and department heads are seen in action having a positive impact in the surrounding neighborhoods, their staff is going to feel respect and pride in the company that they work for. This can further influence and have a lasting impression for future business dealings.

If content and pleased workers are what the company needs, it always starts at the top. Any managerial staff, board members and other leaders need to be happy with their jobs first. Make closer relationships with all of the members of the company, even to administrative and janitorial people. Surround everyone with happy people ; others are still responsible for their happiness. Create a positive and healthy work area and the people will come, and they will want to work harder and stay longer
