Kerala continues to report surge in COVID-19 cases

Kerala continues to report a surge in COVID-19 cases as 1,169 new cases were confirmed today.
Our Correspondent reports, the State Health Department informed in the official release that out of the new cases 991 persons contracted the virus through local transmission. The situation in Thiruvananthapuram is getting extremely serious as 377 new COVID cases were confirmed today among which 363 cases are through local transmission.
The death toll in the State due to COVID touched 82 as one more death confirmed today in Thiruvananthapuram district. Meanwhile, 688 people recovered from the virus infection today. The total active COVID cases in Kerala rose to 11,342.
Meanwhile the Met department predicts heavy rain in the coming days in the State and an orange caution is issued in 4 districts for tomorrow.
