  • Kerala imposes 14.5 per cent fat tax on Junk Food

    New Delhi; The maiden budget of the CPI(M)-led LDF Government in Kerala presented by Finance Minister Dr. T.M. Thomas Issac on Friday, gives thrust on strengthening social welfare schemes, public health and education and proposes, inter alia, a slew new taxes on packed foods.

    Finance minister also announced that transgenders in the state who have attained 60 years of age will get monthly pension. He however did not specify the quantum of the pension.The minister said the aim of this proposal is to bring the marginalised to the forefront of the soceity.
