  • One young man killed and two seriously injured, tension in Indo-Bangladesh international cemented villages

    Guwahati : Tension prevailed in southern border villages after a local youth was killed and two seriously injured by a border security force (BSF) bullet allegedly at Devipur in Belonia in Tripura. The villagers blocked a road demanding arrest of BSF Jawans responsible for the death of the youth and to stop the alleged atrocities of BSF on civilians in border areas. However, a senior bsf tripura frontier official said that the security forces have so far been using sensor devices, flood lights and night-viewing glasses to protect the international border.

He was taken to Belonia Hospital in critical condition where he died. To curb infiltration attempts, BSF is considering to erect laser walls near Indo-Bangladesh border.

The 750-km-long borderline was sealed, while some parts – especially the Sonmura subdivision of Sepoyijala district – have not yet been erected.
