Anantapur: Fulfilling the promise of better healthcare, KIMS Saveera Hospitals, Anatapur, saved the life of a 75-year-old patient Mr. Narayana Swamy by adopting new technology.

Mr. Narayana Swamy was brought to emergency at KIMS Saveera Hospitals, with complaints of severe chest pain. He was diagnosed to have a massive Heart Attack. An emergency Angiogram revealed severe fibrous and calcified blockages in the main vessel of the Heart which needed an emergency bypass Surgery to save the life of the patient. As he was patient with severe lung disease, he was at very high risk for bypass surgery. Dr. Bala Kishore and his team decided to conduct innovative cutting balloon angioplasty with stent implantation.

Dr. Bala Kishore, Consultant Invasive Cardiologist, KIMS Saveera Hospitals, said, “In this procedure, a special balloon tip is used, which has small blades. These small blades are activated once the balloon is inflated. Once the tip is stimulated, the blades spin at high revolutions, cutting away the calcium deposits in the vessels. This is a new age technology we are offering at KIMS Saveera. This technology will give great results for the patients who are at high risk with calcified blockages. Cutting Balloon Angioplasty helps in debulking cholesterol and calcium blockages in the vessels of the heart. The results achieved with this procedure has the advantages of less hospital stay, fewer complications with good long-termoutcome. This is also an effective low-cost procedure.”

“Often there is a misconception that hospitals at tier3 cities cannot offer their patients these types of options, and that’s simply not true. We would like to play a critical role in providing essential medical care duringall the emergencies at any point of time,” he added.
