  • Krishi Mela for Jal Shakti Abhiyan held at Haflong

    Haflong:  Under Jal Shakti Abhijan a day long Krishi Mela was organized by the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council along with the line departments at Haflong Municipal Board field (Lal field). B.B. Hagjer, local MLA attended the programme as the chief guest while Nandita Gorlosa, Executive Member, i/c Education attended as the guest of honour.

    The exhibition was inaugurated jointly by EM Nandita Gorlosa and MLA Hagjer in presence of other dignitaries.      The main objective of the programme is to create awareness about the Jal Shakti Abhijan among the people of Dima Hasao. After felicitation of the distinguish guests, a welcome song was presented by the renown singer Rajesh Bathari.

    Chief Guest, B.B. Hagjer, local MLA, spoke in length about the topographical location of Dima Hasao district and downward graphical trend of water crisis from his childhood till date. He hoped that the deforestation of Hill Areas through Jhum Cultivation etc. caused the crucial water crisis all over in the Dima Hasao. He also requested to all to make the Jal Shakti Abhiyan  effort of the government departments and general public.

    Guest of honour, Nandita Gorlosa, EM who also represented CEM Debolal Gorlosa in her speech urged the farmers to grab every opportunity being provided under the Jal Shakti Abhiyan and requested co-operation of the people in this mission.

    During his welcome address, Principal Secretary, NCHAC, Rupak Kr. Majumdar spoke on the water conservation mission in this district and informed that technical personnel have been involved to study the water problems and to initiate action for conserving water for the future.

    Two scientists from Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Diphu, Karbi Anglong, Dr. Subal Maibangsa, and Nalim Kalita, spoke on the subject and enlightened on the alarming water crisis of present day and necessity for water conservation, rain water harvesting etc. in each and every field of human society.
