Haflong : With the aim of creating awareness among the farmers about water conservation and celebrating 150th Birth Anniversary of Father of Nation, the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Dima Hasao organized a Kissan Mela on Jal Sakhti 
In this connection a well attended meeting was also held wherein Shri Horen Sing Bey, MP attended as the chief Guest and Shri Debolal Gorlosa, CEM, NCHAC, Shri B B Hagjer, MLA, Shri Samuel Changsang, EM, NCHAC attended as the guests of honour along with Monjit Naiding, Chairman, Haflong Municipal Board, Nabojit Hojai MAC, Dr Subal Maibangsa, Principal Scientist, KVK as distinguished guest.
The programme began with offering floral tribute to the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi followed by lighting of lamp by the Chief Guest, MP Horeng Sing Bey.
CEM Gorlosa in his speech appealed to the people of Dima Hasao for water conservation and assured that he would never allow things to happen in their land if these were against the interests and rights of the indigenous people of 
Speaking on the occasion Chief Guest MP Bey explained why water conservation through various means has become a prime need in Dima Hasao and how water conservation has become a Jan Andolan on water preservation and for this Jalshakti Ministry has been established.
Earlier, MLA Hagjer also explained the need and importance of water conservation, revival of water bodies, streams and rivers etc. for better future.
