The Kyocera Corporation was founded more than half a century ago, and has been involved in the solar power business for more than 35 years. Along with many environmental activities, Kyocera has been proactive in research, development and promotion of solar power. With the Solar Power Expo, Kyocera hopes to help increase awareness about environmental issues and the amazing capabilities of solar power as a clean energy source.

Background of the Solar Power Expo Web Site

Kyocera’s solar power business was started in 1975 with the aim of preserving the environment, benefiting society and humankind, and providing an alternative energy supply. With a desire to share this environmentally friendly power source with the whole world, Kyocera has developed its solar power technology and expanded its business worldwide. Furthermore, with the declaration of the “Kyocera Environmental Charter” in 1991, the company made clear its vision and concurrent activities for environmental protection. Since 2003, Kyocera has been providing “Eco-Lessons” for children to learn about the importance of environmental issues and the wonderful possibilities of solar power; and has since provided the classes to over 23,000 children in Japan and China. Kyocera believes in the benefits from addressing both environmental and economic pursuits. With the rise in global environmental awareness, Kyocera launched the Solar Power Expo Web site in order to reach a larger number of people with its message about the power of the sun and the importance of contributing to the conservation of the environment.
