Land acquisition for the 52,000 crore rupees Posco steel project resumed in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district on Monday, after being suspended for about two-and-a-half months.A total of 2,100 acres have already been acquired, of which about 1,700 acres have been handed over to the company.Jagatsinghpur Collector S K Mallick said 19 betel vines were dismantled today without any resistance by locals and about 21 lakh rupees paid to the land losers.

He said the land acquisition involving dismantling of betel vines process would continue on Tuesday as people are willing to cooperate.
