Celebrated author Ruskin Bond visited The Heritage School on the 28^th of January for the launch of his latest book ‘Happy Birthday World’ amidst his young admirers. It is a picture book for young readers, four year old and above and is published by Westland Publications Private Limited under their children’s imprint Red Panda . Mr. Bond unveiled a cut out of the Red Panda on the same occasion.

The author shared insights about his literary journey with his fans among the students and teachers. During his interaction with the students, he mentioned that as a kid, he was quite a bookworm, though he was fond of playing football too. When asked how he writes a book, he replied, keeping his sense of humour intact, it is still with a pen or pencil or else typed in the computer by someone else. He was asked how he would encourage children of the present generation to read more books and spend less time on electronic gadgets. He motivated them by saying to make reading a habit and to treat books as their best friend. Regarding use of electronic gadgets, he said he is glad that he still doesn’t use a mobile phone or the computer. The questions asked, revolved mainly around the various characters in his books.

The author’s books were put up on sale and buzzing with enthusiasm, the children and teachers gathered around the bestselling author, to get his books autographed. He patiently dedicated copies of his new launch to his eager readers. The interaction with the legendary author was undeniably a memorable and phenomenal experience for all who heard him speak. It was indeed a momentous and rare occasion to have a ‘master weaver’ of stories like him at The Heritage School.  Ms. Seema Sapru, Principal, The Heritage School and Mr. Pradip Agarwal, CEO, Heritage Group of Institutions, Kolkata presented him the New Year Calendar and the latest volume of the KBT Newsletter on this remarkable occasion.
